@SteveJ2008 well in the original skit the salesman wasvery loud and pushy, not letting the woman talk until that point during the entire thing she would interject with things like “but I” “you don’t” “but you see” until the punch line.
@SUPERMEDIABROTHERS6 It also doesn’t make much sense as to why the woman would even invite the salesman to go through a sales pitch for a vacuum in the first place if she doesn’t have any electricity.
this is actualy a variation on an old vaudville routine, only in that after dumping the dirt on the ground the comedian would take out his vacuum cleaner and ask where to plug it in and the housewife would respond, “we don’t have electricity” of course that doesn’t work anymore because pretty much everybody has electricity nowadays.
Ah okay thanks! I checked IMDB but couldn’t find the episode. My girlfriend kept saying the woman here was familiar and she really wanted to know who it was. I guess she could have seen her on any of those shows. She has never watched Taxi but I was showing her some clips of Jim since they’re such classics. I don’t like very many TV shows but Taxi was good.
You are so right! I guess you are not supposed to work from memory when creating title cards on video clips…
The episode is called “On the Job:Part One”
The actress’ name is Alice Hirson.
It looks like she was a semi regular cast member of “Dallas”, “Ellen”, “Murphy Brown”, and “7th Heaven”, plus a lot of one shot roles in other series. (I got this from IMDB.)
I love this scene. It’s just so funny, with little nuances like Jim brushing off the little bit of sugar after he’s made such a huge mess, the look and tone of the woman, the build upof the mess (the dance), etc.. I feel like they probably had so much fun filming this and it pays off in spades.
If Jim Ignatowski wasn’t selling vacuum cleaners, how could they have found an easy way to clean up that mess he made?

I love how apprehensive the woman is initially and how Jim’s behavior only confirms her fears.
Another classic “Taxi” moment.
Christopher Lloyd possibly the best TV actor of all time. i watched every episode of this show just to see what Jim Ignatowski would get up to next
lol lol lol…
along with jims driving test segment this is some of the funniest television ever created.
HAHAHA
This is gold!
I agree. This was about the time ABC was ending “Crappy Days.” They should have canceled “Crappy Days” and had this and “Police Squad” back to back!
Police Squad was also fantastic; they should have run them back-to-back
One of my all-time favorite scenes. Thanks for posting.
so many actors from this show went onto big things

Thanks again!

Do you know the name of the woman in this scene? I’ve tried searching on Google but can’t find it. I can’t even find an episode called “Working.”
still is..
“..but you can call me nickname…”
Lloyd was brilliant !
Can you all believe ABC canceled this show before NBC picked it up! ABC canceled it to put “Police Squad!” on!
Oops! A little dirt! ROFL!
This guy kinda reminds me of Kramer on Seinfeld
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!
They just don’t make shows like Taxi anymore.
fuckin Jim! Oops! A little dirt! lol!
